Must I ask? Wear a Mask!

I just heard tonight that there was “breaking” news. Asymptomatic carriers of COVID-19 cannot spread the disease. No need to wear masks anymore. Wow! Someone else even confirmed it. How can we go so long not realizing this? So, off I go to the internet to check for myself. And …

nothing.

There was no mention of it. How can this be? Surely, such a big discovery would be all over the news. Is this just the main-stream media conspiracy to keep us afraid? I doubt it. The media has a responsibility to report the truth along with the facts. Why can’t we be allowed to know?

The real question is what should you and I do? Is wearing a mask all that bad? For myself, I’m going to stick with what my doctor and health officials say — Wear a mask. If by chance the masks were not necessary, that’s quite alright. No harm done.

One more week to go for self isolation. Afterwards, I will continue wearing a mask because it is the responsible thing to do. Maybe not all the time but certainly in public, and most certainly indoors (even when nobody else is around — yet).

This is really a group activity. Everyone needs to do it. One or two people here and there won’t change much. But everyone working together on this can have a real impact. If somebody asks you to wear a mask (Canadians are so polite you know) I would most certainly love the suggestion and join in. No fuss. We should not have to ask though.

One more thing before signing off. If anyone can provide a link that says people without symptoms do not need to wear a mask, please share. I’ll read it and maybe even consider posting it. Just … maybe.

PS: I really hope to put up some interesting stuff soon. I just felt I had to speak up.

Lunar Eclipse Tonight!

OK, it’s just a partial lunar eclipse but given a clear sky, every eclipse is always exciting. Hopefully eastern Canada and the United States gets clear weather. The Earth’s shadow will only take a bite out of the top of the Moon. See https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/news/article/how-to-watch-the-july-4-penumbral-lunar-eclipse

There is another reason I marvel at viewing a lunar eclipse. Thousands of years ago, people looked up and saw a shadow move across the moon. They figured out it was the Earth’s shadow. And since the shadow was round the Earth must be round too! A fantastic discovery. It took thousand of years for everybody else to catch on. Well, almost everyone. https://theflatearthsociety.org/home/

The Flat Earth Society goes way back, well before the internet. They contend that we have been lied to by, well, you name it — scientists, government. mass media. Sound familiar? They go to great lengths to disprove all the data that shows that the world is round. This just shows that we cannot trust everything we hear or read. Maybe that is the true purpose of the society. To have a little fun while teaching a lesson. Or, maybe they are true dis-believers.

Here are some related links you may enjoy reading if it sky is covered tonight. In the coming days, I will talk about crossing the border and start tracking my daily symptoms. Yes, we should all be doing that so we have a clear data if/when we do get sick. Scientists are still trying to figure this out and the more data they get the better.
